Gerstell Academy can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They rang in the new year with a 51-39 victory over Mount de Sales Academy. That's another feather in the cap for Gerstell Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Gerstell Academy was led to victory by Miley Alguire and Taylor Moran. Alguire dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Moran scored 22 points along with four steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Kiara Hardy was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six steals.
Despite the loss, Mount de Sales Academy still got an impressive performance from Mackenzie Conley, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Katie Carroll, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds.
Gerstell Academy pushed their record up to 4-5 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Mount de Sales Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Gerstell Academy will head out on the road to face off against Westminster at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mount de Sales Academy, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Friends at 5:30 p.m. on January 8th. Friends will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Mount de Sales Academy is ranked 69th).
