Archimedean's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marathon. Archimedean has not had much luck with Marathon recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Marathon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was ADRIAN CRUZ, who scored 27 points along with four steals. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was YANIEL GARCIA, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Archimedean's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-6. As for Marathon, their victory ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7.
Archimedean will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on BridgePrep Village Green at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2024. One thing working in BridgePrep Village Green's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests. Marathon will finish 2023 at home by hosting Whitman-Hanson Regional at 11:00 a.m. on December 29th.
