Marin Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over Kelseyville. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
Jack McGovern looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Marin Catholic's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 7-3 (and 8-9 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Marin Catholic got a massive performance out of Johnny Greco, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Greco a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Mitchell, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Marin Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.2.
Meanwhile, Northgate came tearing into Friday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Highlanders get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.
Nate Luehs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over 6.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Christopher Flores, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Northgate's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Marin Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 15-12.
