A feisty cat fight will be fought as Terra Nova Tigers duke it out with Woodside Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Terra Nova sitting on eight straight victories and Woodside on three.
Terra Nova gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Mountain View by a score of 11-8. Terra Nova's win was all the more impressive since the Spartans were averaging only three runs allowed on the season.
Luke Ornelas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Ornelas was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joey Donati, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Austin Snead was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Terra Nova always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodside). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Washington a 22-0 shutout on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Woodside also got a great performance from Carter Ball as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Trent Amoroso was incredible, firing off two home runs, five runs, and six RBI while going 4-for-5. Those home runs marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was Cruz Torres, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Terra Nova's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Woodside, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
