For the first time this season, Woodbridge will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Wednesday. They will venture away from home to square off against the Sage Hill Lightning at 3:30 p.m. Woodbridge's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Sage Hill's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Woodbridge proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by eight) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Kennedy 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since April 9, 2024.
Woodbridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Camacho, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another was Nevan Namgoong, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Sage Hill owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. Everything went their way against Chadwick as Sage Hill made off with a 9-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Lightning in their matchups with the Dolphins: they've now won four in a row.
Evan Stroner made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Justin Glasser, who scored a run and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Stroner, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Woodbridge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. Sage Hill's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-1.
Woodbridge beat Sage Hill 4-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Does Woodbridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sage Hill turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
