Scott has gone a perfect 7-0 against Roane County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Skyhawks will welcome the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Scott will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
On Monday, Scott made easy work of Clay County and carried off a 14-2 victory. Considering the Skyhawks have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Hunter Woodrum made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Scott let Jason Ferrell and Ian Prince run wild. Ferrell went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Prince went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Ferrell has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Louden White, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Scott always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Roane County came into Tuesday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They won by a run and slipped past Clay County 5-4.
Carter Kinder made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Kinder was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landen Williams, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Roane County's win bumped their record up to 12-16. As for Scott, their victory bumped their record up to 21-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Scott has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Roane County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Scott's way against Roane County in their previous meeting last Saturday, as Scott made off with a 14-8 win. Do the Skyhawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
