Calaveras entered their tilt with Big Valley Christian on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Lions. The result was nothing new for the Red Hawks, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kaeden Hudson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

In other pitching news, Joey Sweet tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits.

Back at the plate, Douglas Jones was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Aidan Bruckner, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Calaveras kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.2.

Calaveras pushed their record up to 7-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Big Valley Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9-1 record this season.
