The Wesleyan Wolves will take on the Fellowship Christian Paladins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wesleyan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Wesleyan had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt St. Francis on Tuesday. Wesleyan put the hurt on St. Francis with a sharp 12-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won eight in a row.
Billy Gingrey looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Wesleyan got a massive performance out of Carter Hayes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Grayson McCollum also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Wesleyan lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Fellowship Christian narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Mount Pisgah Christian 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Paladins have posted against the Patriots since April 13, 2021.
Jack Dart looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, Reid Harke was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lawson Ivey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Fellowship Christian's record now sits at 6-2. As for Wesleyan, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Wesleyan skirted past Fellowship Christian 7-5 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Wesleyan repeat their success, or does Fellowship Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
