Basketball Game Preview: American Canyon Wolves vs. Napa Grizzlies

American Canyon has gone 10-0 against Napa recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The American Canyon Wolves will be playing at home against the Napa Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in American Canyon's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Napa has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.

Last Friday, American Canyon was able to grind out a solid victory over Casa Grande, taking the game 60-53. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while the Gauchos are ranked 954th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jordan Woodson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. What's more, she also racked up seven steals, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Nayonni Mitchell was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

American Canyon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Napa lost 39-18 to St. Vincent de Paul on Saturday.

American Canyon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Napa, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.

Everything came up roses for American Canyon against Napa in their previous matchup on January 7th, as the team secured a 70-7 win. In that game, American Canyon amassed a halftime lead of 34-5, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
