After flying high against the Millennium Falcons last Saturday, the Ripon Christian Knights came back down to earth. Ripon Christian took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gregori on Thursday. Ripon Christian has struggled against Gregori recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Ripon Christian's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Reagan Van der hoek, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Van der hoek is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kara Kessler, who scored 17 points.
Gregori's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alanah Lopez led the charge by scoring 12 points along with 4 steals. Lopez hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Lily Staggs was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 5 steals.
Ripon Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Gregori, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Ripon Christian will take on Modesto at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Modesto comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Gregori won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Tracy at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th. Tracy is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
