Baseball Game Preview: Winters Warriors vs. Pierce Bears

For the second straight game, Winters will face off against Pierce. The Warriors will head out to challenge the Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Winters has five straight wins, Pierce has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Winters' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Pierce 13-0.

Jordan Calvert made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Everett Beason, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Sebastian Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Winters was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Winters' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pierce, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Winters has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game.
