The Merit Preparatory Academy Knights lost against the Pinnacle Panthers back in November, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Merit Preparatory Academy received a tough blow as they fell 54-39 to Pinnacle. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Merit Preparatory Academy in their matchups with Pinnacle: they've now lost eight in a row.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Miles Petersen, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Ayden Martinez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Cole Barton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pinnacle, scoring 27 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Barton has scored at least 25% of Pinnacle's points. Another player making a difference was Joey Howell, who scored eight points along with seven assists and seven steals.
Merit Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Pinnacle, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Merit Preparatory Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Union at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Union is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. Pinnacle and Piute will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Piute's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
