The Sacred Heart Prep Gators will head out to challenge the Archbishop Riordan Crusaders at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Sacred Heart Prep will be strutting in after a win while Archbishop Riordan will be coming in after a loss.
Sacred Heart Prep not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 1, 2024. They were the clear victor by a 10-2 margin over Mills. Considering the Gators' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Devin Saltzgaber tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Daniel Gee was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-4. That run was his first of the season. Thomas Moldow was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Sacred Heart Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Archbishop Riordan was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They fell 5-2 to Menlo-Atherton. The Crusaders haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Archbishop Riordan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keoni Ordonez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Sacred Heart Prep's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2. As for Archbishop Riordan, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1-1.
Sacred Heart Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Archbishop Riordan when the teams last played back in March of 2022, sneaking past 9-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sacred Heart Prep since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
