After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Mary's, the Manteca Buffaloes were happy to have found some success on Thursday. Everything went their way against Oakdale as Manteca made off with a 50-30 win. Given Manteca's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Mustangs are ranked 732nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Manteca's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Izabella Sanchez led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Michailla Springs, who scored 15 points.
Manteca has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. As for Oakdale, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-17.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manteca will take on the Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Emma Gilmore and Jada Ikharo. As for Oakdale, they will be playing at home against the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Catholic is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
