Football Recap: Summit Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Summit had won six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 2-0 to make it seven. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 28-25 victory over the Chino Cowboys. 28 seems to be a good number for the SkyHawks as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Summit didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jayden Dunn and Shea Garner. Summit got some further help from Zac Lopez: he picked up a sack and made ten total tackles.

As for Chino, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 402nd, while Summit is ranked 183rd).

Several Cowboys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carson Hoover, who threw for 175 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in two rushing scores. Ivan Rodriguez was in the mix as well, providing Chino with two TDs.

Summit has already played their next match, a 41-14 loss against Beaumont on the 5th. As for Chino, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 52-13 defeat against Aliso Niguel on the 5th.
