Sunnyside has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Hoover Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
While Sunnyside couldn't quite beat the Toros on Thursday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 21-point loss they were dealt on Wednesday. Sunnyside fell just short of the Toros by a score of 46-43. Sunnyside has struggled against the Toros recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Ruby Cartwright put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. That was a full 41.9% of Sunnyside's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Nicole Xiong was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Meanwhile, Hoover unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Roosevelt 47-43.
Sunnyside has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. As for Hoover, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-12.
Sunnyside couldn't quite finish off the Patriots in their previous meeting back in January and fell 40-38. Can Sunnyside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
