Softball Recap: Cozad Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

While Cozad put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Chase County. The Haymakers were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Longhorns. Considering the Haymakers have won eight matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Mallory Munster looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Aubrey Hammerlun was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base. Brooklynn Beavers was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Cozad was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chase County only posted a batting average of .333.

Cozad pushed their record up to 14-12 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Chase County, they are on a 17-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

Cozad does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chase County, they will face off against Chadron at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
