Rogers dropped down to 4-5 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 21-3 to the Exeter-West Greenwich Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 back in March.
Rogers saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colby Schreiber, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those doubles were Schreiber's first of the season.
As for Exeter-West Greenwich, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
On Exeter-West Greenwich's side, Tyler Medeiros made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Medeiros has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Dylan Main and Tyler Main did most of the damage at the plate: Dylan got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Tyler got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and two RBI. Exeter-West Greenwich is undefeated when Tyler posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. JJ Langlais was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Looking ahead, Rogers will venture away from home to challenge St. Raphael Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Exeter-West Greenwich, they will welcome Woonsocket at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Villa Novans have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
