Basketball Recap: Sukhman Kandola's Big Game Can't Quite Lead River Valley over Roseville

River Valley fought the good fight in their overtime match against Roseville on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 38-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roseville Tigers. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

River Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sukhman Kandola, who posted 11 points and six rebounds. That's the most rebounds Kandola has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Gurleen Nijjar, who had five points.

Leading Roseville to victory were Calee Bookhart and Ashlyn Kelley. Bookhart almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards, while Kelley earned 12 points and six steals. Bookhart has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 19 times she's played.

River Valley's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-11. As for Roseville, their record now sits at 6-9.

River Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-26 victory against Yuba City on the 13th. As for Roseville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-22 win against Del Campo on the 13th.
