Valdosta battled some of the top teams in the state of Georgia this year along with a hurricane but still managed to hold its leads as the nation's all-time winningest high school football team.
However,
Massillon Washington (Massillon, Ohio) won two more games than the Wildcats this year and closed to within two victories of the all-time lead. The Tigers finished 11-3 after losing to
Big Walnut (Sunbury) in the regional finals after going 16-0 last year and capturing the Division II state championship. Massillon's all-time record now stands at 959-302-36.
Valdosta finished 9-3 and upped its all-time record to 961-269-34 despite not playing the second half of the month of September due to damage caused by Hurricane Helene. The Wildcats made the Class AAAAAAA playoffs and lost in the second round to
Carrollton.
