The Conifer Lobos will face off against the Wheat Ridge Farmers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Conifer has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since August 23.
Conifer came up short against Golden on Wednesday, falling 16-2.
Conifer saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Bergman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Wheat Ridge came into Thursday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Adams City 16-7 on Thursday. The Farmers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Haley Cross made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Wheat Ridge got a massive performance out of Hailey Piel, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave Piel a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Detwiler, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Wheat Ridge's win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Conifer, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Conifer might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Wheat Ridge when the teams last played back in September. Will the Lobos have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
