Cosumnes Oaks extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-19. They lost 6-0 to the Laguna Creek Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Monday.
Cosumnes Oaks got a good showing from Dylan Dennings, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Dennings gave up only four walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.
At the plate, Cosumnes Oaks saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mike Bourtayre, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.
As for Laguna Creek, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
On Laguna Creek's side, Brady Stoller tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Stoller also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Cardinals are 5-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 7-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryan Eddy, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Jose DeTrinidad was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
While Cosumnes Oaks had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
