Baseball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Cornerstone Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Santa Rosa Academy Rangers a 14-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Crusaders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Dylan Kelly made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base. He is becoming a predictor of Cornerstone Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Steel Hoham and Alec O'Sullivan did most of the damage at the plate: Hoham scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while O'Sullivan scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs O'Sullivan has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was David Meinardus, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Cornerstone Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Rosa Academy struck out eight times.

Cornerstone Christian's record now sits at 7-3. As for Santa Rosa Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Christian will square off against Packinghouse Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Santa Rosa Academy, they will challenge Hamilton at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
