The Greater Johnstown Trojans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Somerset at home to the tune of 62-30. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-11.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eve Housley, who scored five points along with six assists and five steals. Housley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Holmes, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Greater Johnstown pushed their record up to 8-8 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.33 points. As for Somerset, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greater Johnstown will take on Penn Cambria at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Penn Cambria focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday. As for Somerset, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chestnut Ridge at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Chestnut Ridge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Somerset in Pennsylvania (Chestnut Ridge is ranked 258th, while Somerset is ranked 526th).
