If the Glendale Vikings were riding high off their 65-15 takedown of the Curwensville Golden Tide last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Glendale took a serious blow against Williamsburg on Wednesday, falling 72-24. Glendale has struggled against Williamsburg recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Williamsburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leeanna Royer, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five steals. Royer is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Levada Gorsuch was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Glendale bumped their record down to 2-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Williamsburg, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Coincidentally, Glendale and Williamsburg will both be playing Mifflin County the next time they take the court. Glendale will head out to face Mifflin County at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, while Williamsburg will host them at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
