Westover had lost five straight on the road, but  on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-11 to make it six. They lost  17-11 to the Deerfield-Windsor Knights. Even though they lost, the Patriots' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.3 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
  Yukari Edwards and  Timeria Neal did some serious damage despite the final result:  Edwards  earned four  RBI and two  runs, while  Neal  got on base  in three of her five plate appearances with three  stolen bases. Neal has been hot recently, having  posted  at least one  stolen base the last three times she's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Delijah Spears, who  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with two  stolen bases and two  runs.
As for Deerfield-Windsor, their win  ended  a  seven-game drought at home  dating back to last season and  bumped them up to 4-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six  runs or more this season.
On Deerfield-Windsor's side,  Mary Ruth Courtney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned  (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance,  Courtney is now averaging an impressive 5.1  strikeouts per game.
 On the hitting side, Deerfield-Windsor let  Oliva Allen and  Jennings Curington run wild. Allen  got on base  in all five of her plate appearances with five  RBI, one  run,  and one  double, while  Curington  got on base  in four of her five plate appearances with two  stolen bases, three  runs,  and three  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Anna Beth Brady, who  went 1-for-4 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI.
 Coming up, Westover will square off against Calhoun County at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.83  runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Deerfield-Windsor, they will face off against Valwood at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
