Brookstone has won four straight games at home, while Bulloch Academy has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Cougars will welcome the Gators at 2:00 p.m. Brookstone will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Brookstone's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Thursday, when they got past Southwest Georgia Academy's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Cougars blew past the Warriors 12-4. Considering the Cougars have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Brennan Neal and Luke Lowery made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Neal tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lowery tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Neal has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Neal went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Lowery went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most RBI Neal has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mercer Hudson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Gray Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Brookstone was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Bulloch Academy walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Vikings on Friday.
Bulloch Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Brookstone, their win bumped their record up to 22-5.
