Softball Recap: Gatewood Has No Trouble Against Central Fellowship Christian Academy

While Gatewood didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Central Fellowship Christian Academy Lancers 9-1 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Riley Roberts made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Lily Arthur was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Ellie McMillian was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Gatewood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive contests.

Gatewood pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Central Fellowship Christian Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gatewood will welcome Briarwood Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Central Fellowship Christian Academy, they will take on Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
