Softball Recap: Northgate Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Northgate got themselves on the board against Banneker on Tuesday, but Banneker never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Trojans. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.

Kylie Pack made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Northgate got a massive performance out of Avery Maninger, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave Maninger a new career-high in RBI (four). Another player making a difference was Addy Clark, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Northgate always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of 1.000. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Northgate pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Banneker, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Northgate will take on rival Newnan at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Banneker is set to square off against their familiar foe Dutchtown at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
