The Escalon Cougars and the Hughson Huskies will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Escalon comes in on three and the Huskies on seven.
In what's become a running theme this season, Escalon gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They blew past Livingston 45-23. Given Escalon's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Wolves are ranked 804th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Sammy Lang, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals. Lang is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Chloe Farley, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Hughson strolled past the Indians with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 50-33.
Madi Duron was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 18 times she's played. Kareena Kang was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Escalon's record is now 23-2. As for Hughson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.
Escalon came up short against the Huskies in their previous matchup back in January, falling 61-53. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Duron, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. Now that Escalon knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
