Holtville has been on the road for three straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Central Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Holtville will be strutting in after a victory while Central will be coming in after a defeat.
On Saturday, Holtville earned a 42-33 win over Coronado. The victory was just what Holtville needed coming off of a 57-23 defeat in their prior contest.
Central suffered their closest loss yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Palo Verde Valley by a score of 56-54. Central has struggled against Palo Verde Valley recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Central's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Victoria Zamora, who scored 17 points along with six steals, and Mya McClain who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. McClain has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Janelle Thomas, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Holtville's win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Central, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Holtville against Central when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 63-28 win. With Holtville ahead 32-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.
