While losing is never fun, Laurel Highlands can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while Southmoreland is ranked 203rd).
When it comes to explaining why Laurel Highlands lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Koffler. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Shane Layton, who scored ten points.
Southmoreland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Felentzer, who scored 19 points. Felentzer has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Ty Keffer was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Laurel Highlands' loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Southmoreland, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.
Laurel Highlands will look to defend their home court on Friday against Uniontown at 7:30 p.m. Uniontown is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 73 points per game this season. Southmoreland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
