They escaped with a win against Heritage Christian by the margin of a single free throw, 68-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Whittier Christian found their leader in underclassman Jatniel Cabrera, who scored 36 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. The match was Cabrera's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Zoe Sanborn was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Whittier Christian's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Heritage Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whittier Christian will square off against Valley Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley Christian will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Heritage Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Village Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Village Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 264 points over their last four matchups.
