The Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals were the 44-24 winner over the Central City Bison when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Doniphan-Trumbull fell to Central City 36-31.
Despite the defeat, Doniphan-Trumbull saw an underclassman step up: Charlee Richter scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Richter is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Central City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addie Buhlke, who scored ten points along with five steals. Jerzie Schindler was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Doniphan-Trumbull now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Central City, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Doniphan-Trumbull will challenge Sandy Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sandy Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. Central City will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Twin River on January 2, 2024.
