After four games on the road, Cabrillo is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Lompoc Braves at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Cabrillo is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lompoc in California (Cabrillo is ranked 139th, while Lompoc is ranked 973rd).
Last Tuesday, Cabrillo strolled past Foothill Tech with points to spare, taking the game 47-33.
Cabrillo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylie Jenkins, who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Angeliyah Gonzalez, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Lompoc's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Santa Maria. That's two games in a row now that Lompoc has lost by exactly 13 points.
Cabrillo's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-1. As for Lompoc, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Cabrillo was able to grind out a solid victory over Lompoc in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, winning 34-22. Will Cabrillo repeat their success, or does Lompoc have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
