The West Vikings had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 39-26 victory over Golden Valley. Given West's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 419th, while Golden Valley is ranked 934th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Caleigh Adams, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of West's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anyiah Jones, who scored four points along with ten rebounds.
West has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Golden Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
West will face off against Tehachapi at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tehachapi is on a four-game streak of home wins, West a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Golden Valley will take on Foothill at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
