The Tri-Valley Bulldogs are still winless after their contest against the Halifax Wildcats on Saturday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. Tri-Valley fell just short of Halifax by a score of 43-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Tri-Valley has suffered yet this season.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cassie Huntzinger, who scored 16 points. That was a full 39% of Tri-Valley's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Avery Miller was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Halifax's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Savage, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Zimmerman, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Tri-Valley bumped their record down to 0-13 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Halifax, their victory ended a 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri-Valley will face off against Weatherly at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Weatherly has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2. As for Halifax, they will head out on the road to take on Newport at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Newport is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
