The El Camino Wildcats will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the San Pasqual Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for El Camino and seven for San Pasqual.
El Camino struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Friday (Valley Center was 23% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. El Camino lost to Valley Center at home by a decisive 42-28 margin.
Despite the loss, El Camino saw an underclassman step up: Alana Hoskins scored 13 points along with 7 steals and 5 assists. Hoskins scored a full 46.4% of El Camino's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Carter, who scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, San Pasqual was the victim of a rough 44-23 loss at the hands of Canyon Crest Academy on Friday. San Pasqual was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-6.
El Camino has yet to win a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 1-6 record. As for San Pasqual, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
El Camino took their win against San Pasqual when the teams last played back in December of 2019 by a conclusive 61-39. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was San Pasqual's Acacia Denton, who scored 22 points along with 6 rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for El Camino to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
