The Arvin Bears will head out on the road to take on the North Stars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Arvin has three straight wins, North has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
The home team had won the previous six meetings between Arvin and South, and Arvin kept the tradition alive. The Bears came out on top in a nail-biter against the Spartans on Wednesday, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since February 28th.

Roy Rosales made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Rosales wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Ramirez, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. What's more, Ramirez posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
Arvin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, North came up short against Arvin on Tuesday and fell 12-7.
MICHAEL SMITHEY made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of CHAUNCEY YBARRA, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Arvin pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for North, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Arvin has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like North struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Arvin was able to grind out a solid win over North when the teams last played on Tuesday, winning 12-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
