After four games on the road, Mark Twain is heading back home. They will take on the Monroe City Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mark Twain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Mark Twain came up short against Marion County and fell 55-44. While losing is never fun, Mark Twain can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while Marion County is ranked 122nd).
Mark Twain's loss came about despite a quality game from Sam Northcutt, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Northcutt scored a full 45.5% of Mark Twain's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aydan Dye, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Monroe City earned a 47-37 win over South Shelby on Thursday.
The losses dropped Mark Twain to 1-5 and Marion County to 4-1.
Mark Twain beat Monroe City 48-37 when the teams last played back in January. Will Mark Twain repeat their success, or does Monroe City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
