The El Dorado Golden Hawks will face off against the Villa Park Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (El Dorado: 1.2, Villa Park: 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
El Dorado is headed into the game with an undefeated record on the line, something La Habra almost spoiled on Tuesday. El Dorado came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against La Habra. Four seems to be a good number for the Golden Hawks as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Julian Rodriguez looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Diego Gonzalez was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Mason Kim was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, while Villa Park put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Banning. Villa Park put the hurt on Banning with a sharp 6-0 win. The Spartans' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Jake Nobles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned runs in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Cade Cowle looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Nobles wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Young, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Dominic Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as he stole his first stolen base of the season.
El Dorado's record now sits at 4-0. As for Villa Park, their record is now an identical 4-0.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. El Dorado hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Villa Park struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
