Baseball Recap: Highland Has No Trouble Against Antelope Valley

While Highland put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Antelope Valley. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Antelopes with a sharp 19-0 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Nick Leon made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Highland got a massive performance out of Cole Studt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Wilson Jake also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Highland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Antelope Valley only posted a batting average of .000.

The win made it two in a row for Highland and bumps their season record up to 13-7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Antelope Valley, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Coming up, Highland will venture away from home to take on Paraclete at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Antelope Valley will be paying especially close attention to the Bulldogs' contest: after the Bulldogs faces off against the Spirits, they'll take on Antelope Valley again at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
