The Grossmont Foothillers won the last time they faced the El Capitan Vaqueros, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Grossmont managed a 48-42 victory over El Capitan.
Grossmont's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aakash Price, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dahlia Blake, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Several Vaqueros players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keira Heinricy, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. Paige Worthem was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Grossmont pushed their record up to 14-5 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for El Capitan, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grossmont will take on Monte Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Monte Vista is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for El Capitan, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Mount Miguel at 5:30 p.m. Mount Miguel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1235th, while El Capitan is ranked 357th).
