Eden Prairie extended the longest winning streak in Lake this week by beating Minneapolis South, 42-0. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Minnetonka was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Minnetonka 14-0. The Skippers came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Edina's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mark Handberg threw for 124 and two touchdowns and Marley Allison had 92 yards receiving. On the ground Kevin Placide chipped in 132 yards. Nathan Johnson helped Edina's passing attack out by catching one ball for 15 yards.
The Hornets' Handberg and Allison have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Handberg has thrown for 908 yards this season, while Allison, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 35 catches for 487 yards. Minnetonka's Ian Cote leads the league in rushing yards with 556.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Dave Nelson's team and Eden Prairie. The Skippers enters the game ranked 25th in the state, while Mike Grant's team ranks first.
The Eagles took down the Tigers 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
