It was a good run, but the Hoggard Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Northern Guilford 32-27. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hoggard has scored all season.
Hoggard's loss came despite strong showings from Sarah Elgart and Tristan Shivers. Elgart scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Shivers scored 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The match was Shivers' 11th in a row with at least ten points.
Jasmine Harris continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Northern Guilford, scoring 16 points along with five steals. The match was Harris' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Malena DeLisa, who scored two points along with five steals.
Hoggard's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-1. As for Northern Guilford, their win was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoggard won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lucy Beckham at 2:00 p.m. on December 30th. Northern Guilford and Topsail will face off at 11:00 a.m. on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Topsail will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while Northern Guilford is ranked 14th).
