Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Escalon duked it out with Los Banos on Thursday. The Cougars blew past the Tigers 9-1.
Brody Abbott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zach Wells, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hughson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like Escalon struggles in that department as they've averaged .441. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Hughson's way against Escalon in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Hughson made off with a 13-4 victory. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
