Basketball Game Preview: Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves vs. Southern Alamance Patriots

The Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves will square off against the Southern Alamance Patriots at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.

Last Friday, Cedar Ridge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 30-25 to Person. The Fighting Red Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Cedar Ridge had strong showings from Elliott Weisenfeld, who posted 14 points, and Kassidy Tolliver, who had six points in addition to 15 rebounds and five steals. Tolliver has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last four times she's played.

Even though they lost, Cedar Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southern Alamance). They came out on top against Apex by a score of 32-23 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Southern Alamance's win came from a few key players Cedar Ridge will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Carlie Jacobs, who put up six points. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2023.

Southern Alamance's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-8. As for Cedar Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Cedar Ridge was able to grind out a solid win over Southern Alamance when the teams last played back in February, winning 35-28. Will Cedar Ridge repeat their success, or does Southern Alamance have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
