The Chaney Cowboys took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They secured a 53-47 W over Howland. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Chaney also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Jashaun Holcomb was the offensive standout of the matchup as he dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. Latrell Kimbrough was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
When it comes to explaining why Howland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alex Henry. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Henry scored a full 44.7% of Howland's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Perry, who scored 8 points along with 13 rebounds.
Chaney's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Howland, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chaney will challenge South Range at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Howland will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against LaBrae at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th.
