The Brantley County Herons will take on the Berrien Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Brantley County will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Brantley County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They took a 17-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tattnall County on Thursday. Herons fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Warriors since on Thursday.

Hayden Hickox and Jackson Rowell did some serious damage despite the final result: Hickox went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Rowell scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Rowell a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Brody Howell, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-5.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Brantley County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Berrien fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Brantley County on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Herons by a score of 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Rebels have lost by just one run.
Cayden Vickers was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Berrien saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Rice, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Colby Smith was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Brantley County's defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Berrien, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Brantley County came out on top in a nail-biter against Berrien in their previous meeting on Tuesday, sneaking past 6-5. Does Brantley County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Berrien turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
