Acadiana Home School Athletics faced Psalms Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Commandos won by a set and slipped past the Ambassadors 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Commandos sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Acadiana Home School Athletics who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 18-25, 26-24, 24-26, 15-9.

Leading Acadiana Home School Athletics to victory were Leo Mader and Elijah Chopin. Mader had 19 kills, eight digs, five aces, and two blocks, while Chopin had four digs and four aces. Those 19 kills gave Mader a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Coleman, who had four aces.
They weren't the only good server: Acadiana Home School Athletics was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive matchups.
Psalms Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Wesley Woods, who had seven kills, six digs, six blocks, and six aces. Another player making a difference was Peter Rodriguez, who had eight kills, six aces, four digs, and two blocks.
Acadiana Home School Athletics' victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Psalms Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Acadiana Home School Athletics is set to challenge their familiar foe First Baptist Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Psalms Christian Academy will square off against rival Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
